Busting the Myth: “Low AMH Means No Chance of Pregnancy”

One of the most common and frightening myths I hear in my clinic is: “Doctor, my AMH is low—does that mean I can never get pregnant?”
The answer is NO.

AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) is a marker of ovarian reserve, not a pregnancy verdict. A low AMH tells us quantity, not quality. Even with low AMH, if a woman is ovulating and producing genetically healthy eggs, pregnancy—natural or assisted—is very much possible.

Many women with low AMH conceive naturally. Others conceive with minimal stimulation IVF, modified protocols, or timely treatment strategies. Age, egg quality, uterine factors, sperm health, and lifestyle play an equally—often more—important role than AMH alone.

Another important fact: AMH does not predict your ability to carry a pregnancy. Once an embryo forms, AMH has no role in implantation or pregnancy continuation.

What low AMH really means is don’t delay. It calls for personalized planning, not panic. With the right guidance, realistic expectations, and evidence-based treatment, low AMH is a challenge—not a dead end.

So please remember:
👉 Low AMH ≠ No pregnancy
👉 Hope + science = possibilities
