After embryo transfer patient eagerly wait for pregnancy test result. Once result is positive it is great relief for patient. 1. Blood Test Confirmation (Beta hCG)
The blood test called Beta hCG is done 10 to 15 days after embryo transfer. Once beta Hcg confirms pregnancy we usually repeat beta hCG for 2 to 3 times to confirm rising level. Once rising beta hCG is confirmed then next step is to do ultrasound.
2. First Ultrasound (Around 6–7 Weeks)
Ultrasound is done around 6 to 7 weeks of pregnancy that is approximately 1 month after beta hCG test. This first ultrasound is usually transvaginal ultrasound which gives information about weeks of pregnancy, heartbeat, gestational sac, yolk sac. It also help to rule out ectopic pregnancy. It also help us to diagnose early abortion. Once first ultrasound confirms healthy pregnancy then patient is shifted to routine care.
3. Continue Medications
Unlike natural pregnancy in IVF you will need to take progesterone support till 12 to 16 weeks. medications plays very important role in IVF. So always stick to advise of doctor and continue medication till your doctor says.
4. Monitoring and Reassurance
Just like normal pregnancy you will need to undergo continues monitoring of pregnancy with help of ultrasound and investigatinons.
5. does every IVF pregnancy require Caesarean section
IVF pregnancy doesn’t mean you need to undergo caesarean section compulsorily. Just like non IVF pregnancy if there is any complication which indicate caesarean section then only you need to do so. Otherwise Normal Vaginal Delivery is possible with IVF pregnancy.
